Need a Towbar

The guy I bought my Van from had a Towbar fitted by these guys, http://www.truckandbustowbars.com.au/. Its a heavy duty with 1600kg towing capacity. He said people come from far away to get towbars fitted to there SCs'. I don't know what the costs are sorry.

Hi, after some extensive cleaning and replacement of parts in the automatic gear box I am shocked to find the car much less responsive than before and can almost see the fuel gauge go down when I accelerate! Sure, its a big heavy vehicle and we know that its slow but not to this extent, it never was before. It struggles up hill and my foot is flat down on the floor. No probs with the gear changes, any suggestions why so much power loss?

Battery Drain --- flat battery

Hi all,

Recently bought one of these great vehicles. Mine is a super custom 3.0EFI Turbo camper or day van. It is a semi-high top, beautifully done out inside with 2 ring cooker ,fridge, sink etc. I will try to post some pictures later.

However, I have a problem with a drain on the battery. It lasts approx 3 days of non use and it is flat and will not start the vehicle.

There is a drain of around 0.3amp. with eveything off.

There are one or two things that don't make sense to me.

Cylinder Head Tightening sequence from left to right.(AND Removal sequence 90 degrees at a time!! May take several passes.) Then two passes at 90 degree per pass.This will prevent distortion of the head or block faces.

Having had an engine refit, upon its return the 4WD would not engage. There was a gearbox "noise" but no light on the dash and the Low box would not engage.

Checked the vacuum system using a syringe on various points- Air Con Diaphragm, 4WD actuator inlet and outlet, vacuum pump union with or without 4WD button on with the engine running. No leaks so checked the Bulb on the dash - the lead to the Transfer Box Switch is live with the ignition on.If the lead is earthed the light ...

OK my rear seat tracks arrived. I can see how it goes together but it refuses. I'm trying to slide the mechinisim into the tracks, it only goes a certain way and gets stuck. Please help

Was wondering if any one else has had any success fixing their electric curtains ? Some will work all the time, others will close but not open or vice versa, or just struggle and take a few hits on the switch to close/open fully. Seems like it's probably just dust in the tracks (i hope). Just after some tips before i start pulling things apart.

btw, it's a 95 3.0 SCL 4WD

G'day,

Here is my 1989 Super Custom Hiace.

It was imported into Australia in 2005 and still has only 142,000km on it.

Its an 8 seater, Diesel, automatic, 4wd.

It has all the usual stuff, Fridge/icemaker. Hot water jug, elec curtains, 2 sunroofs etc etc.

This pic was taken last week on Noosa North shore. Was a beautiful day for a drive up the beach and we only got stuck twice due to lack of ground clearance.

Tailgate name plate plastic strip needed

Bought this van a fortnight ago and already damaged it!

Anyway, I can repair and repaint the tailgate but the plastic strip with TOYOTA and Hiace on it is broken.

Gearbox warning light.........

On the way home from work today the gearbox warning light on Trundlebus came on whilst I was traveling at about 110kmh.

( 2.4 td SC auto c/w auto box)

I slowed down and it stayed on. As I came off the motorway and came to a halt in traffic the light went off.

The old girl pulled away ok .. 1st gear (ok) 2nd gear (ok) 3rd gear felt sluggish , almost as if ( I know it has not got one ) the clutch was playing up.......

ANY IDEAS?

Headlight bulb change - sidelight removal

Can anyone help? I need to change a headlight bulb and for the life of me can't get access to the rear of it. I've managed to remove the indicator unit which allows access to the sidelight but after removing a number of screws, the sidelight just won't shift. Are there additional screws somewhere, is it sprung loaded or just requires a certain knack to remove it?

I believe you have to remove the front grill to get to the head lights. Is this right?

Interior Light problems - how do you replace the ballast

Hi all,

I have recently disovered that my interior light doesn't work, and after replacing the light tube, it stil doesn't work. I have confirmed that 12 v is making it to the light via multimeter, so am assuming now that the ballast is stuffed. Has anyone attempted replacing this before?

How does a tow bar fit to super custom?

Help - I have just bought a towbar for my 1993 super custom limeted and i only appear to have the mounting holes to fit it.

It is supposed to fit to a pair of diagonal threadded holes on the out side of each chassis leg right at the back and then to a smaller threadded hole underneath further back.

i have all of these holes on the right - (the 2 on the outside are the ones used for the towing eye and the smaller one is unused) but on the left all i have is bare untouched chassis with no holes ...

i've just joined up. i've recently bought a lovely long-wheel base semi-high roof camper. i've wanted one for years and finally got one .

it's all been converted to UK electrics, but the only thing missing is a leisure battery charger. i managed to wreck the old leisure battery by using a car charger....which i had been told was suitable for deep-cycle recharges, and clearly wasn't! i've now replaced it with a whopping 115amh battery.

i'd like to fit a suitable charger ...

Vibration at idle

Hi , has anyone noticed an the SC 4WD steering wheel shakes and there is vibration at idle and no big difference if I put it in neutral at traffic lights.

Smooth while driving but very rattly and rough at idle, maybe injectors need servicing??

Apart from that I took it for it's first big voyage on the weekend and it goes like a bullet .

For a big van these SC's are a good thing and I reckon I'll keep this beast for ever.

Fuel consumption is around 10 lt / 100 kms and I really pushed it ...
