PostSubject: Rear light panel, anyone removed one?   Sun Nov 01, 2009 3:46 pm

I'm thinking of removing the rear light panel from teh tailgate on my 96 sc. Couple of reasons, 1 its cracked at the top and 2 i want to smooth oput the looks and fit a UK style plate and number plate plinth.

Only think i'm wondering is how many holes this will leave in the tail to be sorted, i'm planning on giving her a respray at some point, so to fill a few screw holes is ok, but if there are big holes for the lamps it may be easier to get a replacement tail?

Anyone done this?

Ta

Andy

Removed one on a Townace, and yes loads of holes. Just remove the interior trim to reveal the screws/clips/access holes!

Big holes behind the bulbs, bolt holes for the rest.

It would probably be easier to just buy a local version Hiace tailgate from a wrecker/breaker. Yes there are huge holes behind the lights on the jap version.

Here's a picture of mine with the lights removed while the tailgate rust was being repaired. Of course the holes will be a much more regular shape as mine had just had all the rust sand blasted away when this was taken.
