PostSubject: possible newbie owner here [needs convincing]   Mon Feb 22, 2010 8:38 pm

Hi , been looking at bongos and T4 transporters, a pal of mine loves his toyotas having owned a liteace, and a supercustom , Both have blown head gaskets , he's just bought another super custom 4 x 4 and persuaded me to have a look at a super custom.....I need convincing , I'm in the uk and planning on looking at a jap import supercustom on a 94 plate, got very low mileage ,its one of the bling models but with out the crazy fins on the roof...Any opinions and guidance appreciated...calum

calum, i was bit like you. Thinking about the t4. But Tried an SC and haven;t looked back, better to drive, more powerful engine, more refined and a lot more kit than in pretty much anything else out there... i read somewhere they're called the rolls royce of vans in japan and i see why !!!

Get a 3.0l engine, they're the cream of em. and if you're not sure then how does dual zone air con, a fridge, power windows all round, power roofs, lux seats that turn into a bed, power seats, powered steering adjustment, a kettle, power curtains, remote central locking grab you..... Very Happy

Seriously, they're great to drive and have enough toys to embarrass most Merc's.... you won;t be disspointed once you drive one....

I'd say get one....the only downside is the scrap yards are not full of them...so if you reverse into something and need a cheap spare bit.... Embarassed ....its toyota or order from abroad.
On a practical daily level though nothing comes close...like any vehicle...look after it and it will serve you very well......

On a blank canvas and with the right skills you could make anything fit I guess...won't the previa seats be low?
I'd try and get a seated one if thats what you are after....some cheapish ones pop up on ebay......
