| Pay particular attention to the terminal type and also orientation...then just buy the largest capacity battery that can fit in the hole. To run 2 batteries...if you want to use one while the engine is not running do a search / read up on 'split charging system' |

| Clive I've got starting problems too. Do you know what is causing yours?
Mine may be a too rich fuel mixture. I had the injectors reconditioned and put them in and tryed them. Started okish, but I had to take them out again because they hadn't sealed proberly and the injector tip was coated in carbon deposits. I didn't expect that after only a short time running. |

| First I've a cracked head but before that it was allways needed a good cranking over even when hot.
I have the same problem as someone in NZ. It will start over 10 seconds of cranking but have no power, even ticks over at 500 rpm.
Once the K-Seal gives up and I change the head, I'm not ivestigating BUT on the Hilux forum someone did have trouble with the sensors on top of the fuel pump not sending the correct signal to the ECU. I've tried starting with them disconnected both together and one at a time and it made no difference. So perhaps that may also be my problem?
Battery I think is an 083 code? |

| Either something is left on or its an electrical short.....maybe moisture build up leading to arcing...mechanical switch....or contact issue in wiring.... Do you have an alarm/immobiliser? How long from charged before its obvious something has happened?...slow / gutless cranking power etc

| OK, beg, borrow or steal an ammeter. Disconnect the earth side on the battery and put the ammeter wires between the battery post and the earth terminal. You might get a slight discharge showing as the radio goes through it's motions, but after settling down, there should be less than 0.05 amps showing allowing for a clock or something causing a slight drain.
Here's some handy tips http://www.aa1car.com/library/battery_runs_down.htm |
