Problem with this mod is that the gauge will work properly and if you go to sell your van, I'd expect a phone call from the new owner telling you the van you sold them has cooling problems after they take it up the first big hill. Thats why Toyota ''dampen'' the gauges in the first place! You try explaining that it's normal for the temp gauge to go up and down and they will think your telling b/s! Just fit an aftermarket gauge which can be removed easily. Mine uses the same sender port of the origional in the head, just had an adaptor made at a local engineering outfit for $25 to fit the new sender. My ace sits on 85d on the flat at 100kph, 90d at 110kph and ive had it up to 100 while booting it up a steep hill for a couple of mins. Yet to hook my boat on and do some more testing but here's hoping she stays under 110d. Have had radiators cleaned, extra fluid in the fan coupling, changed the fan temp timing, added an trans oil cooler which cools the oil out of the trans first before sending it back through the in-tank radiator cooler (trying to keep heat out of the cooling system)

I have ordered one of these from ebay...
Engine Temperature Warning ALARM - ENGINE WATCHDOG TM2
Easy to fit, the temperature probe is a lug which just sits under a nut on the engine, one of the rocker cover bolts will do. then hardwire or plug into 12v and thats it.
