The oil level light goes on and off intermittently when the oil level is fine.
Has anyone else experienced this? and what did you do?

I've had it...but only when the level was approaching minimum once.
Assuming the the level is good on level ground....Might be an oil pressure issue.....or maybe a sticky pressure switch?

Check to see if your dip stick is the right one! Very unlikely to have been changed but stranger things have happened. Just a thought...

Not thought of that one ricardo.
I suppose the only way I would know that is if someone with a 2.4 TD LTE would be kind enough to measure theirs.

chris, its the oil can light, which I understand from an earlier thread is oil level rather than pressure, but please correct me if I am wrong.

I've had this same issue on several cars in the past, very simple to fix, just get a piece of masking tape slightly larger than the warning light and tape it over the light, FIXED!!!! simple as that and much cheaper than adding oil:lol: .

More seriously have you checked for loose connections on the wire to the sensor, this can cause the light to flash intermittently.

Cheers,

Dave

If its just a level light then maybe just gunked up.
The switch may self clean with clean oil...or if you can find it remove it for testing at next oil change...or as said maybe dodgy connections....

I think the level switch for the 2.4 is on the drivers side of the sump if you want to try giving it a clean.Just remember that oil will come out.........unless it was right all along affraid

Thanks Kiwi Dave- very useful!

I thought about taking the level sensor off at the next oil change, so that is what I will do.

Hopefully I don't have to go behind the dash to fix a dry solder. Mind you if I know it is alright I can live with it.

Hi MP
I have a Hiace camper 2.8l diesel 4wd. Average fuel for me is 28mpg or c.10l/100km (i think, don't normally use these units). Given the weight and functionality I'm content.
I am one of the unfortunate ones that has had some problems (head and front Cv joints being the expensive ones) but it has not put us off, as campers go we reckon the hiace is one of the best layouts/space efficient we've seen anywhere. I'm sure it would suit your outdoor persuits. We are mum/dad+2 kids and do similar activities around UK/Europe.
If you get one I would have the cooling system flushed and descaled asap had we known it could have saved us a big bill. The CV joints have done nearly 200k so I shouldn't grumble, just don't look how cheap they are for some other vehicles.
cheers

I measured the oil dipstick last night and it measures 431mm to the max mark and 453mm to the low mark (excluding the handle)

I would appreciate it if a couple of you out there with 2.4's could measure theirs.

Thanks

Simon

Never had cause to remove ( mine 2.8 )....I'd always assumed it was the the wires going the switch above the oil filter that you always see when doing the oil change.

I'll try and double check and post back if I'm way off beam with that
