PostSubject: Water in the Transmission   Fri Dec 20, 2013 12:00 pm

My latest in a string of problems with my supercustom is the un-invited guest to the transmission fluid.

I pin-pointed the problem (split cooler line in the radiator tank) but the damage is already done.

I have no gears at all it seems. Reverse, Drive, 2, 1, they all act like Neutral.

Would this be the end of the transmission? or the torque converter? or will a flush of the system save the day?

I dont want to waste money on a new transmission or torque converter if a flush is the answer, and i dont want to waste money on flushing the system if it is fried.

What would you do?

Don't know off hand, the only way to drain the TC is to remove it. Draining the box and refilling will dilute the existing content.
I suggest you talk to a transmission specialist.

Water in the transmission is a common problem with all the Ford Falcon Taxis in Australia .
They have a water cooled exchanger that often leaks water into the auto .

We just flush the trans with new fluid and drive it around after it , It fixes the problem ok. \
Sometimes if all the gears are not perfect after we redo the flush with new fluid a second time to get any remaining water in the system.
