PostSubject: Fuel Gauge not working   Mon Mar 17, 2014 9:20 am

Just bought a 1996 2.8 litre Vantech Hiace and the fuel gauge is not working. Previous owner says like this for some time, just used the milometer to check when to refill.

Any tips on how it might be sorted, I guess could be at the dashboard, the fuel tank sensor and anywhere in beteeen. Where (and how) to best start the process of tracking down the fault?

Fuse?
Then I'd take the dash out and break and make all the connections. Look for circuit burns
Sender connection is on top of the tank towards the rear. You need to drop the tank to get at the sender.

Or forget it and use the trip meter, does the low fuel light come on?

Ok, will try the connections behind the dash and if the sensor on the fuel tank will live with it
