 Pinion seal

Can the pinion seal be changed easily or is it an axle shop job? (1994 2.8 3L)

Under the passenger seat next to the engine there should be a plate with the engine, transmission and diff models on it.

I suspect yours is the same as the 4runner as lots of bits seem to be the same:

Yeah you can check out the youtube video, it is the same axle. Even if it wasn't, the idea would still be the same.

If the diff is currently free and not whining (i.e. adjusted properly) would it be possible to just do the nut up to the same position as it was to start with?

Also if there is a crush sleeve your options may be limited.
