Looks very nice! Is it an import?

And do you happen to know of these rain visors on your front doors are original Toyota or not? Is there any brand and part number on it?

Enjoy the van!

Hi
Thanks for the welcome. It was imported last september. The wind deflectors were already on (same as my previous 1993 one ) Don't yet know what those overhead switches are yet....last time I managed to get some Japaense person to translate. This one was sold as a 2800 engine but its actually a 2980.I have found the prices for these vehicles have gone up in price !! affraid I missed my previous one so decided to downsize from my Hymer........will have to lose some weight (me) !

You can also use "Google Translate" on Android or iPhone to translate any written Japanese.

@GPW
Yeah but I want the type as shown in the picture where they go over the door edge.
Until now I found the type that you slide in the window rubber. Which I don't really like, but is cheap like 32 euro or something.

The Ebay link is not clear to me which type it is.

It looks like none of them are as huge as the ones on your van.

I had a good look at mine, they are marked >PMMA< but I think that's just the plastic type. A Google search revealed lots of Alibaba hits but no cigar. Mine do seem deeper than the ones in the eBay link. It has about 4-5 black metal hoops riveted onto the plastic that hook around the door and over the top of the glass within the door frame.

I'm pretty sure they would have been made in Japan for the Hiace's as many seem to have them but I can't find any more info.

Nice van, is it a camper? I am also really interested in these weather deflectors. Hiace 4WD, can you pass me a link to score those 32 euro deflectors? Why do you not like them so much?

I will search for an Ebay link.

But the difference is mounting over door edge, or the cheaper ones that go into the window edge/rubber. I dont like the idea becaude I think it will make more noise.

The search terms I found were 'wind deflectors' and 'window visors' but perhaps they are called something else.
You may also find different models also fit - you may wish to cut out a template of the top window glass of the Hiace and try it up against more recent cars and vans to see if you get a match, at which point I'd expect those visors to fit.

Too much of a hassle haha. No I think the ones of your link go over the door but I will ask them.
And my gf doesn't like the huge original ones so no need to search for that Smile

Perhaps the cheap ones going into the window rubber, will make up for the worn out window rubbers after all those years Laughing

Yeah I want the ones that slide right into the rubber. My window squeaks all the time when i drive because its slightly loose so window on rubber shaking makes a squeaky noise. When i lean into the window squeaking stops. If I fit something into the rubber up there I think I won't have any more squeaking, plus airflow when it rains. So yeah Hiace4wd let me know if you can find them on the web. If you can't find it maybe I'll have to get into GPW's suggestion..

I maybe have a little squeking noises too, but also wind rushing when on the highway. Now there is also a lot of engine noise, but I also want to address that later.

This is an example, most of them are from Heko anyway, so this is the cheapest:
http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Windabweiser-TOYOTA-HIACE-FURGON-2-turer-1985-1995-2-tlg-dunkel-Regenabweiser-/111874715845?hash=item1a0c40b0c5:g:l-QAAOSwHaBWl47o

I don't get the 1985 year though. They are also sold in a local webshop here, and there they are offered as 1990 to 1996 model years. Anyway, still Heko, so you will get the same part anyway.

Edit:

I found that there are three main brands. Heko being the cheapest and most used. Then there is Furgon, I don't read much about it, but as cheap as Heko.
The third option is ClimAir. Which is more expensive (53 euro versus 30 euro) and seem to be of better quality. And you can choose between clear, grey or black.
These ones all go into the window rubber as far as I can see.

I think I also want to go for the way with the ones going into the window rubber, even though I said I didn't like them before Laughing

Welcome Margrae. My folks have always had Hymer's. Great vans, although always a risk as they use Fiat Ducato's and their reliability can be interesting sometimes. That's where my love of motor-homing grew from. Opted for a Hiace because of it Japanese reliability, and I can use it happily as a day to day driver.

As for the wind deflectors I have the one's that fit in the window rubbers and the wind whistle is negligible. I had them off for a couple of years as they're rather large and in the winter you need to scrape the ice of both sides before you can see good and I got fed up one winter.

Rattling windows sounds familiar. I sorted mine when I took the door card off and did some investigation. In my case the channel that the window runs down, on the door lock side, had been removed and was sat in the bottom of the door (probably taken off when I had the respray). Once I'd refitted that the rattle had gone. The give away, if you have the same issue, is the window wobbling when you push it when it is part way down.
