PostSubject: Towing Capacity?   Fri Jan 12, 2018 5:18 am

I have a 2001 3 liter Super Custom.  I am thinking of putting on a towbar and buying a caravan.  Anyone know what the towing capacity is please.

Hi We had a tow bar fitted to our 3ltr SC by a top firm they could not plate it (a metal plate showing gross permissable towing wieght) I am relying on the general rule not to exceed the towing vehicles wieght. Any one know any better please.

I have max tow weight together with axle weight and stuff, on a metal plate (original from Toyota) under the engine cover, under the left side seat.

It is not very clear (except for the axle weights), on my plate (LH118 chassis) is 2900kg (total allowed vehicle weigth) and under there is 4900kg. This 4900kg is not labeled but can not be anything else then total combination weight (so including trailer), so this means 2000kg towing capacity (which is also on the sticker of the tow bar!)

But please note, that different wheel base different engine may have different capacity, I have definetely seen lower somewhere on this forum.
Mine is LWB with 2.4 diesel (no turbo)
