PostSubject: Brake Pads   Wed Oct 15, 2008 7:49 am

It's just about time for my first new set of disc pads.

I was wondering if pads from a generic hiace of the same age (ie. RZH series) would go on fine ?

It would certainly make it easy for me if this is the case.

cheers

The pads I've been looking at are bendix (db1205), which acording to the bendix site should go on pretty much every hiace from '90 to '00, although it doesn't mention a KZH model, of course

I am not an expert on Chassis but Blue Print list two versions - ADT342109 upto 1993 & ADT342128 >1993
They list ADT 342109 as being specifically for the KZH model for all years, so I guess the early versions are the same for Hiace.

I was told (not by a toyota dealer) to only use genuine toyota pads otherwise the breaks will sqeak. I had this happen to me with my old local hiace. They probablly cost an arm and a leg but I hated the noise so when the time comes I think I'll cough up.

I use Blue Print pads and have yet to get squeaking - I do use plenty of copper grease on the pad backs and the stopping power is brilliant. I always clean the calipers and check the pistons to ensure they move and retract to the full range. Dirt behind the rubber boots can cause piston sticking that causes brake noise on a free wheel.
